Your students can graduate with ACAT's
nationally recognized accounting credential! Here's How!
ACAT Capstone Review Accounting Program
Benefits Your College and Your Students
Staff Auditor. Payroll Administrator. Financial Analyst. Financial Reporting Manager. Look in the classified section of almost any newspaper and you'll find dozens of ads for jobs in the accounting field.
So where do students go to find the education, training, skills and professional credentials needed to compete for these highly sought-after jobs?
To you and to ACAT. They come to the colleges who offer the associate degree, diploma, and certificate program options. And they come to ACAT for the ABA — the nationally recognized credential that helps them stand out from the crowd when they are competing for those job opportunities in public, private, and government accounting.
ABA stands for Accredited Business Accountant® or Accredited Business Advisor®, whichever is accepted by your State Board of Accountancy. This accreditation program recognizes students and practitioners who have achieved a measured level of proficiency in accounting practice, and is the only nationally-recognized alternative to the CPA designation for individuals who want to specialize in small-to-medium business clients. The ABA designation is earned through examination and is maintained through an annual renewal fee and by earning 120 hours of continuing professional education credits every three years.
Benefit your college and your students by partnering with ACAT to help your students achieve the ABA. If you choose to participate in ACAT's Capstone Review Course of Accounting Principles Program, ACAT will provide you with:
- a course syllabus which you may customize to fit your institution's needs as long as all topics are covered
- a complimentary copy of the ACAT Review Course for yourself, and student copies at a discounted cost
- a complimentary copy of the ACAT Fifty Sample Questions study aid in Power Point format
- a complimentary seat at the next administration of the ABA exam, so that you can earn your credential and a year's free membership in the National Society of Accountants and ACAT OR a complimentary waiver for the ABA credential/NSA membership if you are a CPA or have been licensed by a State Board of Accountancy.
- press releases to help you publicize Capstone program at your college with local media and with local businesses likely to employ your students
- score reports on students who sit for the ABA exam
- one complimentary retake of the exam for your Capstone students who do not pass one or more portions of the exam. Your obligation is to proctor the exam at no cost to ACAT for repeating examinees. You will of course receive the normal proctor compensation for first time examinees.
Your successful students benefit by being awarded the ABA credential, or if they cannot yet meet ACAT's experience requirement, a letter from the President of ACAT stating that they will be awarded the credential when they advise ACAT the experience requirement is met.
If you're ready to sign up for Capstone, please submit by fax or email the Policy Statement form. Please note that the only thing the Policy Statement obligates you to do is not to copy ACAT/NSA materials. It is simply our form for tracking serious interest in our Capstone course.
