FAQs I am credentialed in more than one area, how many CPEs do I need to earn? If you hold more than one credential, you need to meet the CPE requirements of the "higher" credential... not the CPE requirements of both. For example, if you hold both the ABA and the ATP you need only demonstrate 120 hours in CPE units, not 210. I am also an EA (or CPA) can I use those CPE hours for ACAT? Yes, as long as you met the other requirements. Do academic courses qualify for CPEs? To qualify for CPE hours, university or college courses must contribute to the professional competency of the accredited individual. Courses which are not relevant to the individual’s employment do not qualify. Where can I find courses or workshops to take? The National Society of Accountants offers courses throughout the year and webinars you can take at your desk. What types of seminars and workshops CPEs qualify? It must be in your area of certification. But keep in mind, certain hours of your continuing education credits must be in your specialty area. Can I use self-study and journals for my contact hours? Independent study that is approved for continuing education credits may be used for 100% of the hours required for certification renewal. Do CPE programs need to be approved or accredited by a national organization? No. How far in advance of my renewal date must I submit my CPE Statement? You will submit a statement with your renewal fees attesting that you have met your CPE requirements. You will receive your first renewal notice in late April. Your renewal is due June 30th. Renewals that are unsigned will not be accepted. Does ACAT send reminders when it is time for me to submit my CPEs?
We contact all credential holders six months in advance with a
copy of the CPE brochure. The brochure spells out all requirements
for earning and reporting CPEs. |
